the INITIATIVE has been around for 14 years and is designed to provide a fun interactive approach to leadership development.
Instead of sitting through hours of training lectures about how to be an effective leader and team, initiatives get people up and moving, interacting with each other in problem solving activities that are applied to everyday situations. It’s a lot of fun and in the process people actively experience leadership styles and roles within the group.
We focus on each individual and encourage thinking outside the box and reflection, maximizing personal potential and growth. As a result, the individual grows and so does the group, creating future potential for your team.
Our team has worked with elementary, junior and senior high school youth, college mentoring programs, professional teams, and families in need of a fresh look at their relationships.
Along with this and our work at challenge courses, we guarantee to accomplish the goals you have for your group. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the day we will refund your money (minus travel cost). For us it’s about seeing people discover who they are, know that they are accepted by others, and realize their gifts. That’s why we do this.

TRADITIONAL TEAM BUILDING
We will partner with a local challenge course, selecting specific course elements that will help you achieve your goals. We will accompany your group through the course and debrief as we go along.
PORTABLE TEAM BUILDING
Portable team building is held at your location (in conjunction with your conference or program). We bring portable initiatives that are set up indoors or outdoors. That means no travel costs for you, and your group can move easily from your activities to ours without having to relocate.
The NATURE INITIATIVE
For a Nature Initiative, we will meet at a park, trail, or nature area near your location where our facilitators will guide your group through a series of activities specifically designed to incorporate nature.
The benefit of the Nature Initiatives is the lack distractions or preoccupation with things that need to be done Your employees can’t run back to their offices during a break to catch up on a few things. Most of the time cell phone service isn’t available so there’s just nothing to distract a person from observing/taking in the scenery, creation, nature.
How it Works
At the scheduled event, facilitators from the INITIATIVE will direct your group through a series of activities specifically designed to address your goals. These goals might be building trust, identifying leadership roles, exploring servant leadership, team building, etc. This is a 2-6 hour program.
As the group works together to accomplish the goal of each initiative, individuals will discover the role they have in the group, like the problem solver, the encourager, etc… and become aware of different leadership styles.
Typically, the team will need to work through differences and learn to communicate. Ultimately the group will build trust and respect and experience the value of achieving a goal together, building unity, and creating new friendships.
Take Aways
After each activity the facilitator from the INITIATIVE and the group will talk about what individuals learned from the activity and how that applies to their personal, academic and professional lives.
Some may have overcome personal obstacles, some may discover their strengths, learn that serving is a key quality of a good leader, and still others may realize that, “Hey, my peers (family) actually like me and accept me” – this alone can be a biggee.
The team might learn that they work well together, that they work better if they listen more, that not all can take the lead and that it’s important to know when to follow. Some may discover they are important because of their strength, trust and encouragement.
Hopefully everyone learns that they are valuable member of every group.
